All About Cases And Settlements Involving Invokana


Invokana is an SGLT2 inhibitor designed to block a specific protein that helps the body reabsorb glucose in the bloodstream.

December 2015:
In another case, it is alleged that the plaintiff wasn’t aware of the serious side effects of Invokana. The patient took the medicine a year back and soon developed diabetic ketoacidosis. She claimed that complete warnings about the possible risks weren’t provided. 

December 2015:
FDA issued an Invokana safety alert just before Arthur Portnoff led an Invokana lawsuit. He had started taking the drug in November 2014, developed diabetic ketoacidosis and was hospitalized 3 months later. Portnoff argues that Janssen failed to conduct reliable studies about Invokana, withheld information and failed to provide proper warnings.

February 2016:
This lawsuit was filed by Charles Maddox, who suffered diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious and potentially life-threatening condition soon after he stopped taking the medicine. 

May 2016:
A report indicated that more plaintiffs have led Invokana lawsuits including Maria Puente and Carlos Puente v. Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. et al. The lawsuit claims that Maria took the medicine for a month and suffered serious health complications including diabetic ketoacidosis and kidney damage.
